Working Remote
Why is working from home (WFH), or remote anywhere other than an office building such an issue for some people? I find there is a growing number of people who do not WFH who like to think they are more productive, and if you're not being looked over you couldn't possibly get your work done. I am here to say, not true. I WFH and it is such a benefit and really allows me the availability to get work done really anytime and work life balance is wonderful. That being said, I know the position I have is a position that doesn't require me go to an office, because I would be doing exactly what I do from home from the office. I save on gas, no commute time in the car, sick time (under the weather day still allows me the ability to WFH, no sharing germs or having to take PTO to stay home) and I'm more productive. If you have a work force that can WFH you can save money by not leasing office space. If you can't trust your team to get their work done without looking over their shoulders, hire better people. Working from home is a privilege for me and not a right. I understand it could end for whatever reason but I hope my work speaks for it's self and I can keep the privilege of working remote.
Those who oppose I suggest looking at remote work through the lens of the work being done verse the “you GO to work” mentality to actually be working. Things don't stay the same for a reason and it's best to adapt, or at least open your mind to options.
